This trammet on Somerish!

WELCOME!

The Shires of Somery form a country in the far northwest corner of the Old Continent. It has a long history of independence, although for a period of 13 years, ending on November 18, 300, it was occupied by a foreign power. Now our freedom has been restored and we, the people of Somery, are again masters of our own destiny. On this website we provide you with information about our country in various respects. We hope you will enjoy your visit, and that you will like what you find. Welcome!

GOVERNMENT

Here you will find information on the national and local government of Somery, the House of Elders, the Flocks, etc. At the bottom of the page you will find links to a page for each one of the 25 shires. There is also a link to a political map.

GEOGRAPHY

This page gives the location of Somery on the world map, and a description in general terms of the Somerish landscape, as well as a cross section of the country at the bottom of the page. You will also find a link to a physical map of Somery.

CULTURE

Here you will find information on various aspects of life and culture in Somery, like music, theatre, arts and crafts and religion. Here is also a link to the Mirth's official homepage.

SYMBOLS

Here we present the coats of arms and flags of the country and of all its shires and lathes, the coats of arms of its 44 boroughs, and a few other flags.

HISTORY

The history of the northwestern peninsula starts long before the independence of the Shires in 300. Here you will be able to read about the early history of the Somerkin, i.e. the Summer clan of Mystgallia, why they came to Somery, and how they settled down and merged with the Estron, who already lived here. You can also read about the 12 lathes that were united to form Somery.

COMMUNICATIONS

Communications in Somery are well developed. Read about telecommunications, the postal system, and see maps of main roads, railways, airports, post code areas and phone code areas. You will also find samples of tickets and the like.

MAP

You will find several links to maps on the various pages, like on the geography and government pages, but here is the definite, updated map of Somery. Be aware, though, that this map is as big as ca 800 kB.

LANGUAGE

Here you will learn about the Somerish language, closely related to the Ingallish, but still different. You will also get information on the revival by the Estron League of the Estron language, which died out as a spoken language in the late second century. There are links to the Estron League's website and also pages dealing with place names and family names.

SPORTS

Here you can read about the various sports that the Somerish find entertaining.

THE WARDEN

The Warden is the Somerish equivalent to both police and armed forces, divided into two branches, the Lathe Warden, with enforces the law on land, and the Sea Warden, which also acts as coast guard.

CURRENCY

The Somerish currency is a bit tricky to grasp, so here we try to straighten it out as best we can. Here you can also see pictures of the banknotes and coins.

TOURISM

Somery is recently becoming an increasingly popular place to go. To meet the demand on information for tourists the SRW has put together this page containing a list of things to be aware of as a visitor in the land of the Somerkin. Here you will also find a list of useful Somerish phrases. On this page we also provide you with a link to information on various means of transport.

This website is brought to you through the co-operation between the Somerish Rede of Wilfore (Somerish Tourist Council) and the Ambight of Kithing (Information Office of Somery).
